Google Calendar + macOS
Turn Google Calendar events into full-screen Mac alerts.
Can’t Miss reads the Google calendars you select and places an unmistakable reminder on the active display before upcoming meetings. When an event contains a supported call link, joining is one click away.
Use a Google account already available through Apple Calendar, or connect Google Calendar directly inside Can’t Miss with read-only calendar-list and event access.
How direct Google Calendar access works
The direct connection uses Google’s system-browser authorization flow. Can’t Miss asks for read-only access to calendar lists and events, then stores the refresh token in macOS Keychain. Event data is processed on your Mac and is not sent to the Can’t Miss licensing service.
The app refreshes a bounded window of upcoming events about every five minutes, when you request a refresh, and after relevant app or system lifecycle changes. If you disconnect the account, Can’t Miss removes the local Keychain token and attempts to revoke the Google grant.
Set up full-screen Google Calendar reminders
- Install and open Can’t Miss. The app lives in the Mac menu bar and guides you through initial calendar setup.
- Open Settings → Calendars → Accounts. Choose Google Calendar for a direct account, or enable Apple Calendar access for accounts already configured there.
- Approve Google’s read-only permissions. Sign in through the system browser and return to Can’t Miss after authorization completes.
- Select only the calendars that matter. Work, personal, shared, and secondary calendars can be enabled independently.
- Choose an alert lead time. Show the full-screen meeting reminder at the start time or up to two hours before.
- Run a test alert. Test alerts confirm the presentation without consuming one of the 20 free real reminders.
Google Meet links and other video calls
Google Calendar invitations often contain a Meet link, but teams also paste Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Webex URLs into the event URL, location, or notes. Can’t Miss checks those fields and presents a Join button when it recognizes one of those four services.
Selecting Join hands the URL to the default browser or installed meeting app. Can’t Miss does not proxy the call, rewrite the invitation, or send the meeting link to its servers.
Control which Google events interrupt you
Choose calendars
Enable the calendars that deserve alerts and leave noisy or informational calendars disabled.
Choose event eligibility
Alert for all timed events, or only meeting-like events with another attendee or a recognized call link.
Respect responses
Canceled, ended, all-day, and explicitly declined events do not trigger a meeting check-in.
Pause when needed
Snooze, dismiss, exclude an event, or pause alerts when presenting or sharing your screen.
Does Can’t Miss change Google Calendar?
No. The direct Google connection requests read-only scopes, and the Apple Calendar integration only fetches calendars and events. Can’t Miss does not create, edit, accept, decline, or delete Google Calendar events.
Use Microsoft calendars too? See the Outlook meeting reminder guide. For the underlying alert behavior, read how the full-screen meeting reminder works on Mac.
